Start the tour from Barcelona in a comfortable coach to the mountain of Montserrat that majestically reaches the height of 4,051 feet (1,236 meters).
You will go up to Montserrat with the Zipper train that will leave you at the Monastery. The train takes 15 minutes to climb while you enjoy a privileged and beautiful view of the mountain. It is equipped with air conditioning, adapted for wheelchairs and equipped with panoramic windows that make the trip an interesting attraction.
The rocks of Montserrat are a natural sand cement that for centuries have been modified by wind and rain, which is why they have such a strange and varied shape. The popular imagination has seen human or animal forms in some of its peaks, giving them names and inventing legends to explain their fantastic origin.
You will visit the Basilica of Montserrat, which houses the Romanesque carving of the twelfth century, the Verge Moreneta (the Black Madonna).
The Benedictine sanctuary of Montserrat was founded in 1025 and offers a mystical backdrop to the Virgin of Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia, who is enshrined in the Royal Basilica of the monastery. The small monastery soon began to receive pilgrims and visitors who have contributed to the dissemination of stories of miracles and wonders performed by the Virgin.
Today, Montserrat has been modernized to continue serving the needs of the pilgrims a thousand years after its foundation.
